Recently, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to get to know Vanessa Kellner, therapist and owner, as well as office manager Christiana Cortina. Getting to know the heart behind Wholesome Healing has been a privilege, and it is an honor to recommend this most warm and caring practice to local families.
Why I Love Wholesome Healing
- Details Matter: they think of everything to make kids comfortable in their space.
- Sensory Wall: they have a beautiful, bright wall full of different textures and colors.
- Worrry Monster: kids are welcome to write down their worries on a small piece of paper, and the monster "eats" them up.
- Max the support dog: Max's second home is at Wholesome Healing. He is truly the sweetest people-pleasing dog that kids love to love.
- The staff: staff truly love kids and are fully trained in play-therapy.
- Parents involvement: parents are partners with therapists in their kids' treatments.

Wholesome Healing's 10th Birthday Celebration
Wholesome Healing has been serving kids in our community for a decade now, and they are going strong as ever. And they know how to put on a party too!
On September 13, they invited the community to celebrate their first decade with them. Just their practice, attention to detail was at the heart of making the party truly family-focused! It was fun seeing all the smiles they put on everyone's faces, especially the kids.
The party included fun music, food, games, painting, coloring, blocks, bubbles -- everything kids would plan for their own party!
The celebration was an extension of what they do on a day basis: putting kids first.

In Her Own Words: How Wholesome Healing Began
By Vanessa Kellner, Owner and Therapist
Long before Wholesome Healing was a physical practice it was a vision. I came up with the name Wholesome Healing in 2012 and started the LLC then. At that time it was my dream to create a physical space where people could come and feel cared for. I wanted this space to be beautiful and healing... to offer services that didn't just touch the surface of problems, but truly transformed those who came. A place that offered people a way to find themselves and live fulfilling and rewarding lives.
Fun fact, I did not want to work with children at that time! It wasn't until 2015 that I learned about Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and adjusted my vision, making it my mission to learn as much about CCPT as I could and to bring this powerful therapeutic modality to children and families in our area.
The universe must have been waiting for me to get that memo because one year after I switched my specialty and decided to become a play therapist, I opened the doors of the first Wholesome Healing location (we have had 3!). Since then I've devoted my professional life to the learning and practice of CCPT and in recent years, to teaching others how to work with children from this approach.
Over 10 years later, I'm still in awe of the power of Child-Centered Play Therapy. And now, I'm also in awe of the team of providers who make up Wholesome Healing - clinicians who are all highly skilled and qualified, passionate in their constant striving for excellence, and equally dedicated to practicing CCPT with integrity. I assure you, you will not find more highly trained pediatric mental health therapists anywhere else. And we all continue to learn and grow through training, supervision, and ongoing research - all the time!
This practice and my work with children is something I am so proud of - and something I will never stop striving for excellence in. We never settle for good enough at Wholesome Healing.
